PS3 price cut in UK has led to a 178% sales increase!
ps3.jpgGamesIndusty.biz reports that PlayStation 3 hardware sales in the UK have seen a 178% sales increase following the launch of the new 40GB Playstation 3 available for £299 and a reduction to the 60GB unit, which comes bundled with two games at £349.99.
The boost catapults the console ahead of weekly Xbox 360 sales, but still finds itself behind the Nintendo DS and Wii.
The increase has helped the system record its third highest week since launching in the UK.
With sales soaring and the buzz rapidly generating, Sony has also tactfully announced a British release date and price for the PlayStation Eye camera - November 7 for a mere £25 (includes both the camera and the EyeCreate video editing software). Perhaps this may prove to be more of an incentive for those wishing to buy a PS3 this chrimbo.
In related news, a rumour has been rapidly spreading that our friends in the US are expected to see a price cut too. The 60GB unit is expected to be reduced to $399.99
