New Game Engine Released
Along with the other offseason changes, the new game engine has been released and is active starting with today's private league games. It contains all of the features in the previous news post, but we have also made approximately 20-30 minor changes and bugfixes, and as a major additional feature, we have entirely rewritten the end of game logic in order to make your coaching as realistic as we possibly can.
In particular, you will now find that your coach chooses lineups appropriate to the situation and will more aggressively try to extend the game when behind. You will also find that your team tries to make more intelligent decisions about not only when to foul, but also who to foul when behind.
Some of the changes in the game engine have not yet made it to the game viewer, which means that you might still see a few shot clock problems. That's one of our next development goals, but we've been focusing on the engine itself first.
Finally, while we have given this a great deal of testing over many weeks, it is still the case that we have watched between us only a fraction of the games that the entire community sees. Given that there were major changes and that many, many minor features have been added, if you see something that looks strange, please let us know. Our goal is to provide the most realistic basketball simulation in the world, and any feedback you have is greatly appreciated.
The next major updates to the game engine will happen this offseason (although of course bugs will be fixed as quickly as possible), and I'll post a news about those in a few weeks. Most likely the next major feature we'll be releasing will be the updated draft, and we'll write a news about those details when they're finalized.
Again, thank you for your suggestions and your support, and we hope you enjoy the hard work we've put into this. |
