We’re about to begin a brand new season – a fresh start for your league, a new National Tournament, and many new and exciting changes.
• Junior National Teams (U21) – By popular demand, we’ve completed our Junior National Teams system, and elections have just begun! You can run for election in any one country by going to the “NT Election” page under the World menu.
• New Countries: Byelarus and Moldova – We’re proud to announce the two newest members of the BuzzerBeater international family, bringing our grand total to 86 countries!
• New Attendance Page – We promised we’d create a new system to help our users better understand and anticipate their arena attendance, and we think we’ve found a really exciting way to do it. To check out the new page, click on “Fan Survey” under the Team menu. The new attendance algorithm will not fluctuate as much from game to game, so teams will find it easier to plan their finances. As a part of this system, each team now has a rival team in their conference; the rival is chosen based on past games played. *The Fan Survey page will be available by Wednesday evening, EST*
• Promotion Bonuses – In order to help newly promoted teams compete in the higher leagues, promoting teams will now receive a one-time bonus. Both promoting league champions and teams that promoted from a bot cleanup will get the extra cash, though bot-promoted teams will not experience the same boost to their season ticket holders. For the bonus amounts, check out the Standings section of the Rules page.
• Tournament and B3 Revenue – As we mentioned in the previous news post, National Tournament and BuzzerBeater’s Best teams will receive a set amount of money from winning a game at each round, instead of the unpredictable attendance revenue used in previous seasons. For breakdowns of the prizes at each round, check out the National Tournament and BuzzerBeater’s Best sections of the Rules page. The B3 table will be posted in the next two days.
• Game Engine Update: 1st Quarter Logic – We’ve improved the learning algorithm used in our game engine, so the in-game coach will learn to shift tactics slightly earlier in the game. This will lead to first-quarter scores that are more consistent with the team’s performance during the rest of the game.
• BuzzerBeater’s Best – Congratulations to the 127 teams that qualified for this season’s B3 Champions Tournament. One of these lucky teams gets a bye in the first round. As a fun little contest, a random user who sends a BB-Mail to BB-Charles with the name of the B3 team that got the bye before Thursday evening will get a month free of Supporter!
• Upcoming Staff System – As promised, we’re working on a revamped staff hiring system that will be much more interactive than the current one. We won’t give too much away now, but keep an eye out for news posts about it in the next few weeks!
These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to keep BuzzerBeater fresh and fun for everyone. Good luck in the new season! |
