if oxbridge option doesnt affect the other options, he should apply oxbridge as well la
just take that as an interview experience

我間學校 26/9 deadline for medicine+dentistry
但我到今日都未register ukcat + bmat
我個personal tutor B 又叫我 22/9 話佢知仲要唔要medicine...
點算好...
同埋我唔讀medicine,想揀chem+bio related o既科...
有咩好建議...
好灰lor宜家
又勁後悔細個個陣唔去join 多d function
我有小小想去博
但個personal tutor A 話---> 如果4間都reject 左我,咁就要等多一年...

4 choices...what are the 4 choices?
For me I applied Imperial + UCL + Nottingham + Bristol for medicine when I applied UCAS (Long ago lu )
My strategy was 2 good and 2 less good ones
Obviously at my time there wasn't ukcat so I applied for BMAT without hesitation

Also for the 2 'backup' slots I applied for Biochemistry at Imperial and UCL
Both were not hard, and Imperial didn't even require interview

I guess you should choose biochemistry for backup too, as the personal statement for medicine would do just fine (just prepare for the 'why choose biochem while u choose medicine as your major choice' question for interview), and they are relatively easy

Medical Engineering or Medical science would be good choices too, my friend just finished his medical science degree and was able to transfer to MBBS.

Man, these are obviously not backup schools.....they are high up the rankings too
You gotta have at least 1 easier one as a backup

Biochemistry: Laboratory work mostly, will be in research field or work in hospitals. If gonna go private companies can work for drug companies.

Tell me if I am wrong, but in my time UCAS allows 6 slots in total, with 4 for medicine while the remaining 2 can be used to apply for other subjects, right?
In that case of course you should use all 4 for medicine if you really have the passion to do it, even in a less good university, it is still medicine.
Pharmacy probably cannot work the same way as the way i chose biochemistry, because pharmacy seems to have a higher threshold than biochemistry, I am not sure if it's still easy to get in with a medical personal statement.

Pharmacy would have jobs in HK, as not all uni's in HK provide pharmacy curriculum.....but I am not 100% sure, you need to ask students doing it.
Pharmacy is more on the service side, while pharmacology can go on to the research side, and having a higher status (takes longer to study too)
