New Zealand joined Fiji as the only undefeated sides going through to the Cup quarter-finals after another impressive performance, this time over Scotland.
Leading 24-0 at half time the defending champions doubled the score after the break. New Zealand's tries were scored by Rudi Wulf (3), Orene Ai'I, Amasio Valence, Liam Messam, Tafai Ioasa and George Naoupu.
Despite the heavy loss Scotland also progress to the Cup quarter-finals, courtesy of their earlier good form in the tournament.
England 12 - 7 Samoa
England secured a Cup quarter-final berth scoring two tries to one over Samoa in a gripping Pool B encounter after the scores were tied 7-7 at half time.
Ugo Monye score England's first try after England passed up three earlier try scoring opportunities. Kiri Mariner scored Samoa's leveller before England captain Simon Amor's try broke the deadlock.
Samoa will play for the Plate as a result of their points difference falling three shy of France.
Fiji 31 - 5 Australia
Fiji outclassed Australia in the final match of Pool C scoring five tries to one, despite the loss Glen Ella's men join Fiji in the Cup quarter-finals.
Fiji led 12-5 at half time with tries to Semisi Naevo and Apolosi Satala, while Anthony Sauer got around Vili Satala to post Australia's only try.
William Ryder stamped his class on the match scoring two second half tries and setting up a Marika Vunibaka try with a neat step.
South Africa 12 - 5 Argentina
In a must-win game for South Africa, Paul Treu's men secured a spot in the top eight with a seven point win over Argentina at the same time ending Tunisia's dream of a Cup quarter-final berth.
A converted try to Danwell Demas got South Africa on the scoreboard first before Santiago Gomez Cora responded with a neat kick and chase to score in the corner in his side's first loss of the tournament.
South Africa's Jaco Pretorius scored the only try of the second half to ensure his side finished at the top of Pool D.
