Imagine now the government introduce an award of $100, 000, 000, to encourage progressive companies. Whichever HK company makes the most net profit in the financial year will be given the award. Very likely Li Ka Shing's group gets it very year.
Apply this to academic scholarships (/awards). First of all, students from rich families have more resourses, in turn more competitiveness. (I won't waste time to prove this "fact".) Well, then you can see the ones who get scholarships of every kind tend to have this 'advantage'.
Student A is rich and works hard. Student B is poor and works hard. No doubt student A has better chance to win. Follow this route. Student A, with the financial reward, easier to get into a better-money-making degree (Law, Medic)... Blahblahblah... The richer the riches, the poorer the poores. The introducers of these awards intentionally produce such exploitation. |
