PARIS, May 28 (Reuters) - Sochaux coach Alain Perrin is to replace Gerard Houllier at Olympique Lyon, Sochaux president Jean-Claude Plessis said on Monday.
'I've been contacted by (Lyon president) Jean-Michel Aulas,' Plessis said in a video interview . 'You can't refuse that to your coach,' he added.
'There has been a proposal and we are flattered,' Plessis added. 'He (Perrin) will be the Lyon coach. I wish him good luck.'
A source close to Lyon had said earlier that Perrin would meet Aulas on Tuesday and was likely to take over from Houllier as coach of the six-times French champions. Former Portsmouth and Olympique Marseille coach Perrin, 50, led Sochaux to their first French Cup victory since 1937 earlier this month.
Former France and Liverpool manager Houllier, 59, said on Friday he was leaving Lyon after leading them to two consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
Under Houllier's guidance, Lyon failed to make a real impact in Europe, falling in the first knockout round of the Champions League this season and in the quarter-finals last year.
