West Ham skipper Nigel Reo-Coker fears for his Upton Park future following the sacking of manager Alan Pardew.
The 22-year-old midfielder, like so many of his team-mates, has failed to hit the heights of last season in the current campaign.
The Hammers are in the relegation zone and Reo-Coker believes his captaincy and even his future at the club could be under threat when Pardew's replacement comes in.
He told The Sun: 'Now Pardew has gone it's only going to get worse for me with people pointing the finger.
'Whoever the new boss is, it will be down to them whether I will still be here next year. I have no idea what is going to happen in January.
'Everyone keeps saying I should be sacked and it's all my fault we've been doing so badly.'
Former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, who began his playing career at Upton Park, has held talks with Hammers chairman Eggert Magnusson on Tuesday with a view to replacing Pardew.
His exit stunned Reo-Coker, who added: 'Alan's departure was a shock to everyone. Alan is a really great bloke and I can't believe it has happened now.'
Italian keeper Carlo Cudicini remains doubtful for Chelsea as he struggles to shake off a leg muscle injury.
Joe Cole is out for a month with a broken foot but coach Jose Mourinho has no other major injury worries.
Newcastle midfielder Nicky Butt has shaken off a virus and forward Antoine Sibierski (hamstring) should be fit.
Kieron Dyer (thigh) and Scott Parker (back) are not quite ready to return, while Emre (ankle) and Nolberto Solano (groin) have joined a long injury list.
