Nantes coach Georges Eo has admitted the club have had contact with retired keeper Fabien Barthez.
Les Canaris are looking for a new keeper and Barthez's name is in the frame, even though he quit in October when failing to agree terms with Toulouse.
Nantes are considering replacing current number one Vladimir Stojkovic in the New Year.
"That was made clear, the president brought me up to date with it," Eo told RTL.
"He said we were going to talk about Fabien and he asked my opinion.
"Looking at what the boy has won, which is very prestigious, we are going to try and find the best solution possible."
