Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has told Coach Francesco Guidolin to sort out his tactics, although the tactician’s future in Sicily is safe.
The Rosanero were defeated by Roma on Sunday evening and the fiery chief launched an attack on his Coach, stating that he was ashamed of the performance in the 4-0 loss.
“Guidolin has not changed his tactics in the last nine matches and we have lost seven times, earning one draw and a win with Livorno,” insisted Zamparini on Monday.
“I have told him that he is wrong, but he does not listen to me. He is causing a division in the locker room.
“If I were to sack him I would not hire another Coach, I would keep his assistant. In any case I will keep him – he put us in this difficult position and he must be the one to get us out.”
The islanders have recently lost the Serie A leadership, falling 11 points behind Inter and have also been knocked out of the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia.
“Things would have been different if we had only lost 2-0 last night. Roma gave us a football lesson and that is why I paid my compliments to chief executive Rosella Sensi.
“I am mad about the way we faced the match, and dropping David Di Michele was a big mistake,” concluded Zamparini.
Di Michele was also furious after his surprise exclusion and stated he had no idea why he was left out.
“I had no physical problem, it was a technical choice. I don’t know why I didn’t play and I asked no questions,” said the former Udinese ace. “The Coach is the one who decides, he told me I wouldn’t play and that was it.”
Palermo will host Ascoli on Wednesday and then visit Siena on Saturday before the Christmas break.
