Roma striker Vincenzo Montella has agreed to join Premiership outfit Fulham on a six-month loan deal, confirmed the Giallorossi.
The player left Rome on Wednesday evening on a flight to London, after bidding farewell to his former teammates in Trigoria in the afternoon.
“Roma confirms that a deal with Fulham Football Club for the loan of Vincenzo Montella for the rest of the 2006-07 season has been finalised,” read the statement on the Giallorossi website.
The Aeroplanino, who was greeted by a group of supporters when leaving Trigoria, joined Roma in 1999 and was part of the side which won the Scudetto in 2000-01.
However, he has recently been granted limited playing time by Coach Luciano Spalletti after battling back from his injury nightmare last term.
The former Sampdoria man, who also starred in the 2002 World Cup, is contracted to the capital club until 2010 and Roma will pay around a third of his wages until the end of the loan.
Montella’s departure was confirmed on the day Francesco Tavano arrived and underwent his medical tests on Thursday morning.
The former Empoli striker, who has joined on loan from Valencia, will take part in the first training session with his new outfit in the afternoon. |
