Wilhelmsson has Roma medical Tuesday 9 January, 2007

Roma are close to signing Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson after he underwent a medical in the capital on Tuesday.
The Giallorossi are finalising the transfer of the player from Ligue 1 side Nantes and the 27-year-old is expected to put pen to paper over the next few hours.
“He is undergoing medical tests. There is the possibility of signing him and sporting director Daniele Pradé is discussing the final details,” confirmed Coach Luciano Spalletti.
Wilhelmsson, who joined the French club last summer from Anderlecht, could move to Roma on a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.
The international, who can play in one of the three attacking midfield positions behind the lone striker, has played 13 times in Ligue 1 so far this term.
The player is also understood to have turned down a move to Middlesbrough in favour of a peninsula switch.
"Wilhelmsson has several offers, all in loan form. The first leads to Roma, the second to Middlesbrough. They have made concrete offers,” assured the player's agent Fabio Alho this morning.
“His chances of remaining at Nantes are very slim. Christian likes attacking. The Nantes Coach [Georges Eo] sees things differently.
“That's his right, but it would be better for everyone if Christian leaves – at least until June."
Meanwhile, Spalletti has released his squad list in view of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia match with Parma.
Newly-signed Francesco Tavano was included in the 20 names, despite the fact that his transfer has yet to be officially completed due to a delay in paperwork.
The Spanish FA, however, are expected to give the green light on Wednesday, according to the player’s agent Stefano Guercini.
