City cut short Coco trial
By Mark Buckingham - Created on 17 Jan 2007
Manchester City have ended their interest in Internazionale full-back Francesco Coco.
The defender linked up with the Premiership club on Monday, with a view to staying for the remainder of the week.
But after assessing Coco in training, City boss Stuart Pearce has opted to cut short the left-back's trial period.
"He had a couple of days with us, but we did not want to waste his time, because I know he was trying to get a club sorted
out after
being out of the picture at Inter," Pearce told the club's official website.
"We did not feel as if it was right, but we wish him all the best and if anyone phones me I'll give him a glowing report.
"But I did not feel as though he was right for the club."
Earlier this month, Coco issued an ultimatum to Inter coach Roberto Mancini to play him or allow him to join another club.
Messina have been linked with the former Italy international and Coco will now return to his homeland as he looks to revive his
career. |
