LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Manchester City and Sheffield
Wednesday served up an FA Cup classic on Tuesday but it was the
Premier League side who advanced with a 2-1 home victory in an
action-packed third round replay.
It was end-to-end action with both goalkeepers kept
constantly busy. Stephen Ireland and Darius Vassell were the
City scorers either side of halftime after Lee Bullen had
briefly had second division Wednesday level.
Second division Coventry City's woes continued as they went
down 2-0 at home to third division Bristol City while
Wolverhampton Wanderers won 2-0 at Oldham to set up a first FA
Cup derby with West Bromwich Albion since 1962.
There are three further replays on Wednesday, all Premier
League against second division. Newcastle United host Birmingham
City, Tottenham Hotspur face Cardiff City and Fulham take on
Leicester City. |
