Alex Ferguson has warned the Premiership that United's generous spirit in front of goal is set to run out.

Despite being six points clear at the top of the table, the Reds have spurned countless chances all term and could conceivably have been home and hosed in the title race.

And the Gaffer told United Review: “We’ll give someone a hiding at some stage, I think everyone’s been saying that for quite a bit. We’ll score a lot of goals in one or two games."

Sir Alex admits his players are displaying all the right traits going into the business end of the season.

“The players certainly look as though they’re enjoying it at the moment," he said. "Their training sessions are great and they’re playing well.

“They’re getting about the game with great gusto, great determination and team spirit.

“The important things are: one, we keep our consistency going because we are playing well; two: we don’t take anything for granted because it can come back and bite you; and three: we make sure we enjoy it.”
