Former national team coaches Guus Hiddink and Leo Beenhakker will be delegates at an international coaching congress organised by the Dutch Association of Professional Football Coaches (CBV) and the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) to coincide with the start of this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands.
Congress extended
The fifth time the CBV has arranged such an assembly, this year's gathering, from 9-11 June, will be extended to three days with three coaches from each European football association being invited. Every day will focus on a different area with the first at Willem II in Tilburg encompassing the standard CBV congress, with 1,500 guests and international coaches expected to be present. The Rinus Michels Awards will be handed out to the best Dutch trainers on this opening day.
Illustrious guests
An international discussion forum will take place on 10 June in Heerenveen with 200 coaches invited including Hiddink and Beenhakker, who have confirmed their attendance. The theme of the debate will be: Coaches, are you ready for the future? Following the talk, the coaches will watch the opening UEFA European U21 Championship match between the Netherlands and Israel at the Abe Lenstra Stadium.
Varied sessions
Day three will be situated in the Papendal Centre of Sports in Arnhem, where there are sessions planned for youth coaches as well as those involved in futsal. All delegates will finish the congress by taking in another U21 game, this time featuring the Czech Republic and England. CBV chairman Jan Reker has stated clear goals for the conference: "Primarily, development and further education, but we are also aiming for unity and hope that the coaches will be able to get along better as a result of the congress."
