Lampard describes moment he was 'lamped'
Frank Lampard has spoken about the moment a fan tried to attack him on the pitch after Chelsea celebrated reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.
Lampard had to duck to avoid a punch thrown by a man who ran at the England midfielder after the Blues' 2-1 win at White Hart Lane.
The 28-year-old told The Sun: 'I saw the guy coming and wanted to keep my eye on him because I thought if I turned my back I might get one on me.
'I just ducked and then the stewards got to him. The way he ran at me I think he'd had a few drinks. I don't think he should have been on the pitch in the first place.'
The incident occurred after Chelsea's players had celebrated in front of their own fans.
'You understand the emotion in a match like this,' Lampard added.
'There is a lot of feeling but we celebrated in front of our own fans and for the whole game we had taken a lot of stick.
'If you can't enjoy a victory in front of your own fans it's a bad day. People give us stick for a whole game and then complain when we celebrate.'
Goals from Andriy Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips saw Jose Mourinho's side book a semi-final clash with Blackburn. Robbie Keane pulled one back for the home side from the penalty spot.
FA to investigate invasion at the Lane
The FA have confirmed they will investigate incidents at the end of Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final win at Tottenham when two fans ran onto the pitch, one of whom threw a punch at England midfielder Frank Lampard.
Spurs officials will be contacted by the FA today after the supporters ran on to the pitch after the final whistle of the replay at White Hart Lane following the visitors' 2-1 victory.
An FA spokesman said: 'These scenes were totally unacceptable and we will be contacting Spurs as a matter of priority.
'We want to establish what safety and security provisions were in place for the game and to confirm what action was taken against the fans who ran onto the pitch.
'We understand that both individuals were arrested and we would expect them to be given football banning orders.'
Chelsea's win, courtesy of stunning goals by Andriy Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips, sets up a semi-final with Blackburn but the result was overshadowed by the ugly scenes afterwards.
