Julio Cesar renewal doubt
Friday 27 April, 2007
Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar’s agent will meet with club officials shortly to discuss a possible contract extension.
The Brazilian’s current deal with the San Siro outfit expires in June 2008, but the player has asked for a new agreement until 2011, along with an increase in his annual wage.
Julio Cesar’s agent, Josias Cardoso, is scheduled to meet Lele Oriali and Marco Branca on May 15, but has made no secret of the fact that his client was annoyed by the latest links with Gianluigi Buffon.
“These continuous rumours on Buffon have bothered him and made him unsure of what will happen. In any case, we have received several offers from foreign clubs,” explained Cardoso.
“Therefore we are sure that my client’s career will continue at the highest levels, no matter what the outcome of the talks with Inter,” he continued, who dismissed claims Cesar will be included in a swap deal for Buffon.
“No one has spoken to me about this option, I don’t want to comment on something that isn’t official. It is logical that any solution will have to meet our approval,” concluded Cardoso.
Reports in Italy suggest that Inter are willing to offer the former Flamengo man a £1m-per-year deal, half of what Barcelona are ready to pay to lure the player into leaving the San Siro.
“I don’t know if I will stay, we still have to discuss my future,” confirmed Julio Cesar.
