The Carlos Tevez transfer saga took a fresh twist after reports from South America claimed a Brazilian judge had issued an overseas arrest warrant for the player's advisor Kia Joorabchian.

The Brazilian authorities are reported to have instructed Interpol to carry out the arrest of Joorabchian, who is involved in negotiations for the sale of Tevez to Manchester United to West Ham, and Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky. Mr Berezovsky's lawyer was unaware of the issuing of a warrant this morning.

The warrants are reported to relate to suspected money laundering at Brazilian side Corinthians, of which Joorabchian's company Media Sports Investment (MSI) is a majority investor.

Judge Fausto Martin de Sanctis ordered the club's assets to be frozen and will also investigate international transfers conducted by the club.

Both Corinthians and MSI deny the charges.

PARK FACING LENGTHY LAY-OFF

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Park Ji-Sung could be out until January following knee surgery.

The South Korea international was forced to have an operation towards the end of last season and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Park will be part of United's visit to Seoul later this week but, after landing in Tokyo for the first leg of his side's four-match Far East tour, Ferguson revealed the former PSV Eindhoven player will be a frustrated spectator for a while yet.

"He will not be available until December or January," said Ferguson.

"It is very disappointing news but hopefully we have the squad to cover injuries this year."

FERGIE: HEINZE WANTS TO LEAVE

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Gabriel Heinze wants to leave Manchester United.

Heinze has been linked with a summer move after losing his regular left-back slot to Patrice Evra last season.

The Argentinian has been courted by Liverpool, Newcastle United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, although Ferguson has yet to receive a firm bid.

However, the Red Devils manager acknowledged that Heinze is hoping to secure a transfer before the start of the season.

"Gaby's agent has advised us that he wants to move on," said Ferguson.

"I am not too sure about that and we do not have a concrete offer from any particular club.

"But there is some momentum regarding the player's next move in terms of through his agent, even if nothing is close at this moment in time."

Heinze joined United from Paris Saint Germain in a £6.9million deal three years ago and has made 83 appearances for the club, having missed the bulk of the 2005/06 season through injury.

Meanwhile, Ferguson has also confirmed that Gary Neville and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be back in training prior to the opening game of the season.

Louis Saha, though, is likely to sit out the match with Reading on 12th August as he is not due to return to training until the middle of next month.

Gianni Rivera

United's Brazilian midfielder accepts that he may have to start his Old Trafford career on the bench as part of a squad rotation policy next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson's summer spending has all been on strengthening his options in midfield.

It will be no easy task trying to accommodate Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Carrick, Owen Hargreaves, Darren Fletcher, Nani, Anderson and Ji-sung Park.
