ICFCY 2 – 0 ZYX
Some 208 persons were kind enough to visit The Barrington this cloudy day. ICFCY had read about 3-5-2 tactics this week, and seemed keen to try it out in practice. The coach fielded the following talents: Enhua - Mingze, Guosheng, Kunbing - Kangyu, Hengshan, Huaitian, Hongran, Guanhao - Cunhai, Jiawen.
ZYX lined up for kickoff in what looked like a 4-3-3 team. The coach fielded the following talents: Hanen - Guannan, Guanyi, Pinglin, Guoqiang - Fujian, Huilin, Huaize - Guojie, Chonghu, Junming.
The wings were the focus of most of ICFCY's attacks on this day. ZYX had orders to turn the direction of play quickly when intercepting enemy attacks. The home side took the initiative in the game with their 1 - 0 strike in the 15:th minute. Fan Huaitian was the key, having barged into the box from the right and surprised the goalie with a clever trick to flick the ball past him. ZYX had a decent opportunity to score following a counterattack in the 30:th minute, but Xia Guojie's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. After an industrious effort down the middle, Shi Cunhai could have closed the game off in the 35:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. He looked mature there, a bit like his older brother in fact. In the game's 36:th minute, ZYX's Chen Guoqiang fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was not impressed by the young lad's acting skills and booked him for diving. Ge Jiawen nearly extended his teams lead in the 38:th minute. His shot came in from the right hand side but Ding Hanen managed to save it by a fingernail. Shi Cunhai of ICFCY received a yellow card in the 39:th minute for shouting at the referee. The referee confirmed the score as 1 - 0 when he signalled for the halftime break. ICFCY, bringing their ball possession to 82 percent, seemed most ambitious today.
Fan Huaitian feigned, rushed, and dribbled from right to centre, and almost managed to give ICFCY another goal with his determined run towards the goal. His marker caught up, though, and managed to steer it clear. ZYX's counterattacks created a good chance for Mo Fujian on the right, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. Advancing up the left wing proved worthwhile for ICFCY, who increased their lead to 2 - 0 when Chi Kunbing broke away from his marker and finished from an acute angle. At this point, ICFCY showed their maturity and started holding back in order to defend the result. Wu Guanhao of ICFCY received a yellow card in the 58:th minute for shouting at the referee. In the 81:th minute of the game, ICFCY's promising but nonchalant Wu Guanhao had to leave the pitch after receiving his second booking. ICFCY, bringing their ball possession to 73 percent, seemed most ambitious today.
The coach of ICFCY was especially pleased with Luo Enhua after the game. Zhou Hengshan left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team. The ZYX players gave Chen Guoqiang a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". On the other hand, Ding Hanen's performance hadn't been very good at all. The match ends with a 2 - 0 score.
