Kaka and Milan have requested that the midfielder is left out of this year's Copa America to avoid burn-out.
Brazil begin their bid to retain the Copa America title in Venezuela at the end of June, but Dunga looks set to be without a key player in Kaka.
The 25-year-old has written a letter to the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) asking to be excused after an exhaustive schedule.
"In view of a possible call up for the Copa America, I believe I would not be in the ideal condition to offer the performance expected of me at international level," Kaka wrote in a letter published on Milan's official website.
"With this letter I formally request to be left out of the Copa America."
Kaka has been an integral part in Milan's Serie A campaign, while also helping the Rossoneri reach the UEFA Champions League final later this month.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani also faxed a statement to the CBF in the hope Kaka will be allowed a well-earned rest this summer.
"In the last three seasons he has played 180 games, without taking a break for the last two years for the FIFA Confederation Cup in 2005 and the World Cup in 2006," the fax said.
"If he is called up for the 2007 Copa America it will be three summers without a break for him.
"This is why we are asking for your intervention to exempt Kaka from the next Copa America to enable him to recover for next season and the World Cup 2010 qualifiers with Brazil and the official matches for Milan." |
