Everton have decided to release two out-of-contract players, Italian defender Alessandro Pistone and former England goalkeeper Richard Wright.
However, they have offered new contracts to midfielder Lee Carsley and centre-back Alan Stubbs.
Former Inter Milan defender Pistone, 31, who joined Everton from Newcastle United in 2000, has not featured for the first team since injuring his knee in August 2005, shortly after signing a two-year contract extension.
Wright, 29, has spent five seasons at Goodison Park - but manager David Moyes has hinted that he might yet be offered a new deal if the club need another keeper.
"Alessandro and Richard have both been released, although the door is slightly ajar for Richard in that we may need to bring in another keeper," Moyes told Everton's website.
Wright, who has been linked to his orginal (and hometown) club Ipswich Town, was signed by Moyes from Arsenal for ￡3.5 million in July 2002, but has spent most of his time on Merseyside as understudy to Nigel Martyn and then Tim Howard.
