Juventus Go For Deportivo's 10m Andrade

The latest on Juve's agenda is Deportivo La Coruna centre-half Jorge Andrade.

"Juventus have made an offer, but it is very far from what we are asking for," Zaragoza sporting director Miguel Pardeza had declared yesterday.

The likes of Cris, Pepe and Luisao have all been linked, and Jorge Andrade is the latest in the mix, available for 10 million euros.

Juve are unwilling to dish out more than 16 million euros for Milito, and under the circumstances, Andrade becomes a very viable option.

The defender is back in form after a serious knee injury that ruined his World Cup hopes, as well as a full nine months of his career.

The Portuguese international is certain to leave Deportivo this summer, but as with Gabriel Milito, Real Madrid and Barcelona are both in the fray, something that could once again drive up the price.

Juventus supposedly want a quick move, before the Chivu and Milito sagas come to an end, because the Spanish giants will only go for the Portuguese if they fail to net at least one of those two.

Jorge Mendes, Andrade's agent, has good relations with Juve, having just facilitated Tiago's move to Turin, and could be a factor. Deportivo are supposedly keen on a loan deal for Raffaele Palladino.

JORGE ANDRADE TO JUVENTUS

07 Jul 2007 -- Canaldeportivo.com informed on Friday's evening that the club has reached an agreement with Juventus FC in order to transfer Jorge Andrade to the Italian club. So far, there isn't any confirmation about the amount of the operation, but the media in Galicia affirms that it's between €8 and €11 million. The defender still has to pass the medicals with the Italian club.

It was an operation that everybody was expecting to see, Jorge Andrade is near to be transferred to Juventus. Right now the only thing left is to see the Portuguese player passing the medicals. Canaldeportivo.com confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the Italian club, although no amounts were revealed.

But the media in Spain is speculating that it could reach the €11 million. Radio Gallego also informed that Juventus was wishing to include the Uruguayan striker Marcelo Zalayeta (28) in the operation, but it seems that president Lendoiro refused this option. If the Uruguayan is finally included in the operation, the total amount might be €7 million plus Zalayeta. But it's expected that the transfer will only be referred to a cash payment.

Jorge Andrade played 165 matches with Deportivo's shirt (123 in liga, 26 in European competitions and 16 in copa). He also gain a place in Portugal's national team and he is the current captain of Scolari's squad. Andrade suffered a serious knee injury during his debut game against Real Betis for the season 2002/2003, a problem that left him out of action for the half of the season.

But the Portuguese defender returned and gained a place in Irureta's squad and also in the fans heart. He is one of the reasons why Deportivo achieved the unforgettable moments in Champions League and also the first places in la liga. Andrade was near to be transferred during the past year, but he suffered a new knee injury during a game with Barcelona.

This new problem delayed his exit until the end of the season 2006/2007. It was rumoured that the same Barcelona and Real Madrid were interested in his services, but they preferred other choices like Chivu and Gaby Milito. Juventus was also interested in Milito, but since the Argentinean is on his way to Barcelona, the Italian club decided to bet on the Portuguese player.
