Dear student,
Thaks for writing. I have reviewed the situation in connection with the
points raised in your e-mail.
Two inter connected issues are involved:
a. dificiencies and failure in the management system in the Student Housing
Office;
b. your applications for housing for the summer and the the coming fall
semester.
The Student Housing Office indeed has not been performing up to our expected
standards. It is in fact in our view in crisis situation with severe
shorting of staff , high turn over rate, inability in appointing experienced
staff in coping with tasks that are increasing more complicated; and in the
failure failure in providing service that can satisfy needs of students.
There are now major changes in staffing policies and in organizational
structure of student affairs. We hope in the coming year, we can overcome
problems encountered and provide services to students with acceptable
standards. In the meantime, our colleagues will continue totry their best.
There is shortage of on campus accommodation for all categories of students.
Steps are being taken to increase supply through building of new halls which
will take time and in converting some single room units in the PG apartments
for double occupancy. Your application for housing for the coming semester
has been put on the waiting list.
In view of redecoration work for conversion of single room units for double
occupancy in the summer, the Student Housing Office finds it difficult to
provide you a place inthe apartments in the summer.
