Claudio Ranieri has seemingly ruled out taking the Manchester City job after indicating he is looking to stay with Parma into next season.
The former Chelsea boss has drawn the plaudits after keeping the Gialloblu in Serie A this season, and was believed to be Thaksin Shinawatra's first choice as manager if the former Thai Prime Minister was to complete a takeover at City.
However, Ranieri has now looked to draw a line under speculation linking him with the job at Eastlands by insisting he knows nothing of any reported interest from Shinawatra and that he is keen to continue in his home country.
"I would like to remain at Parma," Ranieri told the club's official website.
"It is a healthy club, led by people who love football. But my future has yet to be decided.
"I don't know anything about it [Manchester City]."
Ranieri previously stated on Tuesday that he has made no final decision over his future, with talks planned with the Italian club in the coming days.
His current contract expires in June and Parma are desperate to keep him at Stadio Ennio Tardini, knowing the lure of English football is strong for the former Blues boss.
"We want Ranieri to stay," said Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi.
"He is tempted by the idea of going to England but we will try to keep him. He is fascinated by English football and this is no secret.
"But the warmth of the fans and the atmosphere at Parma will make him reflect on his future."
Ruud Gullit, Gerard Houllier and Sevilla coach Juande Ramos are some of the high-profile figures who have been linked with the vacant City job in recent days.
