Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose has decided to join Bayern Munich and hopes to finalise a move as soon as possible.
Klose has been linked with a number of top clubs across the continent and Werder announced last month they were reluctant to sell their star striker to another German club.
However, Klose has now declared that he will move to Bayern, even if he has to wait until his contract at Werder expires.
Klose, who is tied to the Weser Stadion for 12 more months, does not believe a switch is likely until next year but is staying hopeful.
"The fact is I have decided to play for FC Bayern in 2008," he said after Germany's victory over Slovakia on Wednesday.
"I would prefer for it to happen as quickly as possible and to have everything clear, but if I have to stay one more year in Bremen, then I will still give everything to Werder.
"I would be delighted if I were able to play for Bayern this year."
With Luca Toni also arriving at Bayern competition for places in attack is set to be fierce, although Roy Makaay has been linked with a move away.
The Dutch media claims he could be on his way back to Holland, with Feyenoord already making contact.
Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has not indicated that eh plans to sell Makaay but has admitted his squad is in need of a revamp.
Makaay's contract expires in 2008 and Hitzfeld may want to cash in on the 32-year-old while he still can.
Franck Ribery, meanwhile, is expected to be confirmed as a Bayern Munich player on Thursday.
The Marseille star is set to have a medical and then put-pen-to-paper on a four-year contract.
