Cisse on table as part of Torres deal
Djibril Cisse's agents are reportedly bidding to persaude Atletico Madrid to accept the Frenchman as a makeweight in the Fernando Torres deal.
Liverpool are currently well off meeting Atletico's valuation for Torres and their bid of £16million plus Luis Garcia has been knocked back.
The Spaniards, knowing Liverpool will not pay their £27million asking price, have reportedly asked for Peter Crouch in part-exchange but Rafa Benitez is keen to hold on to the England frontman.
Instead, he has instructed Cisse to open negotiations with Atletico, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Benitez has warned the 25-year-old will not go out on loan again this season but the Reds chief would welcome a chance to get rid of a player who has failed to find his top form at Anfield.
Atletico are apparently already making plans for life after Torres, offering around £13m plus Mista for Villarreal striker Diego Forlan.
But Villarreal representative Jose Manuel Llaneza says any club that wants to buy Forlan away will have to meet the asking price.
"Villarreal does not want to bother negotiating for Forlan," said Llaneza in Marca. "His value is 23 million euros (£17m)."
Forlan was apparently considered by Rafa Benitez, but the Uruguayan is a little overpriced for the Spaniard's liking.
