KIERON Dyer’s move to West Ham United was on the verge of collapse last night after a last-minute change of heart from Newcastle United.

Dyer was to complete a £6m move to Upton Park yesterday after he passed his medical in east London, but the deal was dramatically delayed when the Magpies informed the West Ham board they were increasing the asking price to £8m for the England international. The request was turned down and Dyer was informed the deal was off by Upton Park officials and that he had to head back to the North-East.

A London source said: “Kieron was due to sign for West Ham on Friday but Newcastle suddenly increased the asking price, which West Ham refused to pay. As a result Newcastle have refused to sell the player and West Ham have reluctantly told Kieron that he would have to return to the North-East.”

Newcastle 'agree' to sign Enrique
Villarreal claim they have agreed to sell Spain Under-21 international Jose Enrique to Newcastle.
The Spanish outfit say only a few minor details need to be sorted out before the left-back completes the switch.
"We want to thank Jose Enrique for his contributions and wish him much luck in his footballing career," read a statement on Villarreal's club website.
Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has hinted at several new arrivals and Enrique is unlikely to be the last this summer.
The Magpies sealed the signing of striker Alan Smith from Newcastle on Friday and Allardyce has stressed the importance of boosting his squad for the upcoming season.
Midfielder Kieron Dyer is set to leave, while striker Michael Owen is set to miss the opening game of the campaign against Bolton.

佢之前差唔多傷左成18個月，個時冇問題，好番晒先有問題

好似當一個高薪職員病左唔番得工成年，老細照出糧比佢，點好番之後話想轉去近屋企的公司做...

Newcastle United are understood to be closing in on the signature of Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic.

The Magpies and Manchester City have both made contact, but it is Sam Allardyce who looks like winning the race to land the imposing stopper.

Sevilla have agreed to let Dragutinovic leave and a deal close to �2.5million is set to be agreed.

Newcastle have offered the centre-half, who can also play on the left, a three-year contract to move to St James' Park and the Serbian is keen on the switch.

Ready for move

"This is the financial opportunity of my life and do not want to reject it," Dragutinovic said.

Sevilla have already moved to sign Dragutinovic's replacement in the shape of Colombian Aquivaldo Mosquera, who has arrived from Mexican champions Pachuca.

The Uefa Cup holders have also agreed to sign Brazilian striker Igor Siqueira Pessanha on a five-year deal.
