The Nooner (August 10) – Beckham’s Debut Because you’re the only person that didn’t think the Beckham Cam was used enough.

David Beckham finally made his MLS debut in the Galaxy’s 1-0 loss to D.C. United last night. The Nooner’s surprised RFK officials didn’t turn off the lights and let the cameras light the stadium for the final eighteen minutes.
The season kicks off in Germany this afternoon as reigning champions Stuttgart hosts last season’s runners up Schalke 04. Sounds like a good excuse for Bitburger and Bratwurst for a Friday afternoon happy hour.
The English Premier League kicks off tomorrow and Frank Lampard is determined for Chelsea to take their title back. The Nooner’s not quite sure how winning a title twice in fifty years makes it Chelsea’s.
West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson claims his side is better off without disruptive forces that mired the Hammers last season. The Nooner thinks the club would be better off not having to look into the stands and see Skeletor every match.
Juventus have firmly re-established themselves back in Serie A as they are already in trouble with the Lega Calcio over a shady transfer involving Australian goalkeeper Jess Vanstrattan. Juventus, Australian for cheating.
Benfica left back Léo has asked the club to rescind his contract. Freddy Adu sure is making friends quickly in Portugal.
In other news…
John Daly started out the PGA Championship strongly, firing a -3 round good enough for second place, and giving overweight people everywhere hope of becoming a world-class athlete. Or a striker for AC Milan.
New Zealand’s registry has rejected a couple’s request to name their son 4Real. Instead, they plan on naming him Superman. Couldn’t they have had a bit of compassion and just gone with Clark Kent?
A Connecticut woman saved a boys life by choking an attacking raccoon. Or was it really a bear? Fortunately Steve Carell can explain the difference.
