Doni slapped with ban

Atalanta’s 1-0 defeat at Juventus on Sunday has turned out to be more costly than the loss of three points after Cristiano Doni was handed a three-match ban.
The Nerazzurri playmaker was today suspended for three games after he totally lost his cool following the Stadio Olimpico reverse.
Doni, a former Italian international, is alleged to have struck the referee’s door while verbally abusing the match officials.
The fantasista has also been slapped with a £2,000 fine. It’s unclear at this time whether the Bergamo club will appeal the decision.
Catania have also been hit by the loss of a key player after Gionatha Spinesi was handed a two-game stop.
The former Bari striker, like Doni, is accused of verbally abusing the referee and his assistants after the Sicilian outfit were beaten 2-0 by Lazio.
Seven other players have been given one-match bans and they will miss this weekend’s Week 16 ties.
They are: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli), Mirko Savini (Napoli), Paolo Sammarco (Sampdoria), Fabio Simplicio (Palermo), Rodrigo Taddei (Roma) and Simone Vergassola (Siena).
Meanwhile, Napoli have been fined £10,000 after fans waved laser pen lights into the faces of Parma players during Sunday’s night game.
