Liverpool v Man Utd preview
Liverpool and Manchester United go head-to-head in a clash of the titans at Anfield on Sunday.
One of the most eagerly awaited fixtures of the season kicks off at 1.30pm with the home side going into the game six points behind United after their shock defeat at Reading but with a match in hand.
John O'Shea, who scored the winner in last term's famous win on Merseyside, is bidding to shrug off a groin strain sustained in midweek. Sir Alex Ferguson is confident both the Irishman and Owen Hargreaves will be available but Gary Neville will not be back in training until next week.
Xabi Alonso is back in contention for Liverpool but Steve Finnan is a doubt after picking up a knock in training. Daniel Agger is close to a return but will spend the big match on the sidelines.
United have won five times more than any other side at Anfield in the Premier League era and triumphed on four of the last five trips to Liverpool's home in The Premer League.
No Liverpool player has scored for them in the league against United under Benitez but Peter Crouch grabbed the winner in the FA Cup encounter in 2005.
Steven Gerrard has bagged 10 goals in his last 11 games for Liverpool, with Cristiano Ronaldo hitting the net 14 times in his last 14 outings, but goals could be at a premium if history repeats itself. There have only been six in the last six meetings in all competitions between the two old foes.
