Gerrard may be sold
Jan 24 2008
LIVERPOOL FC co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett may force Rafael Benitez to sell Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The 27-year-old Liverpool captain, is believed to be valued at £35m, will be available for sale if a £350m refinancing deal can''t go through.
Sources close to Tom Hicks told Liverpool local newspaper Liverpool ECHO that Hicks remains confident the long awaited refinancing deal will be signed, sealed and delivered tomorrow or even Monday, but sources from Tom Hicks'' family reveal that Tom Hicks also worry the deal will be collapsed. So he intends to sell the Liverpool captain to help him and his partner Geroge Gillett to finance part of the deal which is expected to help the American duo repay money borrowed for their £218.9m takeover in March 2007.
The news will surely be a huge blow to Liverpool side and anger supporters following their treatment of the Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez when Hicks admitted holding talks with Jurgen Klinsmann last November about the German taking over from Rafael Benitez as manager.
