Naka ready to Shun Celts BHOYS HERO COULD QUIT IN JANUARY WINDOW

SHUNSUKE NAKAMURA has dropped a bombshell on Celtic by admitting he could quit the club in January.
The Japanese midfielder’s contract expires next summer although Celtic have the option to extend it by a season.
But Naka admits he has grown tired of travelling to and from Japan for international games and revealed his agent has already spoken with clubs in his homeland about a possible mid-season switch.
He said: “A move in January might be possible. My agent will take care of everything for me with regards to that happening. Don’t get me wrong, if I was Scottish I’d love play at Celtic forever but I’m Japanese and I’ve also got a family and kids.
“I’ve also got to think about the national team as well and I’m finding it quite hard travelling back and forward all the time.
“I would really love to play here forever but when I take everything into consideration it makes me think that I might need to go back to Japan.
“My agent has already spoken to a few teams in Japan but there’s probably time if that’s needed because of the option. But I could decide to stay in Scotland for a little bit longer, you never know.”
Nakamura, 30, has never hidden his desire to end his career at Yokohama Marinos — the club that made him.
It has been expected that he would sample Spanish football before returning to Japan but after six years in Europe with Reggina and Celtic he admits his destination after leaving Parkhead will be Japan.
He added: “I always wanted to experience Spanish football but I’m really enjoying Scotland and I feel it would be the same, plus Peter Lawwell wouldn’t sell me.
“Peter hasn’t told me that he doesn’t need me yet so I do not know what is going to happen.”
Aalborg’s visit on Wednesday could mark the start of a long farewell for Naka.
He said: “Aalborg are our first opponents and although they’re fourth seeds they’re still playing in the Champions League so we can’t take anything for granted.
“In terms of individual performances I think we’re good just now but in terms of organisation as a team in the past we had Neil Lennon playing and I thought that was better.
“The team at the moment can improve, we will improve. That’s the best way of describing the position we’re in.
“We’ve struggled a little bit in the away games in previous campaigns so we really need to get something from the matches at home.
“You always want to play at the highest level and that is the Champions League, you have to raise your performance and that can only improve you as a player.
“It’s a team sport, it’s not just about any one individual. We’ve got plenty of good players at Celtic so Champions League progress doesn’t just depend on me. I don’t think about scoring free kicks, I think it’s more important to cover team-mates and things like that.”
