Inter ponder Quaresma megabid

Inter are being linked with Porto forward Ricardo Quaresma, but the Nerazzurri will need to table a record-breaking bid to persuade the Dragons to part with him.

Despite continuing their dominance of Serie A, the Beneamata have shown some vulnerability this term and have failed in their bid to conquer Europe.

The summer is likely to bring reinforcements and the departure of Luis Figo may open the door for the man touted as the former Barcelona star’s heir.

While Porto are determined to keep hold of Quaresma, club President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has admitted that he couldn’t reject a mega bid.

“If an offer of £32.5m arrived I think it would be inevitable that we would sell him at the end of the season,” he stated.

Adept at playing on the left wing or in attack, Quaresma has scored 21 goals in 103 appearances for Porto since arriving from Barcelona in 2004.

The 24-year-old is believed to be eyeing a move to either Italy or Spain, but Premier League giants Arsenal are also said to be in the chase.

The Observer says Inter have sounded out Mourinho over replacing Roberto Mancini as the club's coach next season. An initial approach has been made to the former Chelsea manager's agent Jorge Mendes, with further discussions expected next week.

Mourinho will meet Inter's president, Massimo Moratti, to discuss the position once a concrete proposal is put to Mendes. The 45-year-old is open to resuming his coaching career at Inter, who courted him while he was still at Chelsea, but he would want extensive control over the club's football department.
