Rivers's Robert Yngvesson could have put the guests one up in the 4:th minute chasing a through ball from the right, but Vilhelm Christiansson was fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. In the 5:th minute, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Robert Yngvesson put the ball away for 0 - 1. The visitors' Tobias Orenstedt took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs in the 15:th minute. 0 - 2 for Rivers. By now, Rivers were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Hägerstensåsens's Gunnar Gunnarsson got himself booked. The visitors' Robert Yngvesson took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs in the 34:th minute. 0 - 3 for Rivers. A marvellous Hägerstensåsens effort on the right-hand side resulted in a 35:th minute goal by Jarl Ericsson, making the score 1 - 3. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Rivers claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Hägerstensåsens's Gunnar Gunnarsson was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - John Knutsson managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 2 - 3 in the 55:th minute. Håkan Hansson made a superb strike in the 62:th minute with a long shot straight in front of the goal, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in and warded it off to a corner. Gunnar Gunnarsson of Hägerstensåsens got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game. The referee showed Rivers's Luis Eduardo Giménez the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Some fine manoeuvring on the left led to a Rivers goal in the 83:th minute, making it 2 - 4. Robert Yngvesson was noted down as the scorer. This third goal made a hat trick for Robert Yngvesson. The referee showed Rivers's José Carlos Molina the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Hägerstensåsens's Vilhelm Christiansson left the field after 85 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Jan Andersson. On a 87:th minute penalty, Hägerstensåsens's Johan Hassel placed the ball low and to the keeper's right, impossible to block. 3 - 4. Hägerstensåsens's Jarl Ericsson put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored the 4 - 4 goal in the 87:th minute. Rivers claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed. Hägerstensåsens made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left John Knutsson completely alone with keeper Rafael Agustin Fonfria, who made a spectacular block. The result was still a draw, so the match had to be settled with penalties.
