Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 24611 at HKCM的里亞索球場 today. The derby had been the talk of Yau Tsim Mong all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Blifers decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Ozimiński - Tőkei, Duhamel, Torbom - Hüffenhardt, Leibold, Payer, Rocha, Kinkladze - Adam, Soon-Wah.
Chows had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Paturaud - Jun-Ling, Chi-Cang, Fo-Hian - Sing-Leong, Voirol, Zhi-Bin, Pe-shi - Han fei, Subay, Muscalu.
Blifers were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. Chows were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Chows's Wang Sing-Leong was shown a yellow card after 11 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The Blifers player who had to be helped off the pitch, was Max Hüffenhardt as he was unable to finish the game. Maciej Suchan came in to finish the match. It was 0 - 0 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Blifers, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.
In the 47:th minute, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Sander Subay put the ball away for 0 - 1. Géza Tőkei made a superb strike in the 48:th minute with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. In the game's 79:th minute, Blifers's Ruben Leibold fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Ruben Leibold for diving.
