With Porto out of the Champions League, there are intensifying whispers that Inter will make a big-money approach for forward Ricardo Quaresma.
It has now been confirmed that Portuguese champions Porto won’t take part in next season’s Champions League due to accusations of bribery during the 2003-04 campaign.
Barring a successful appeal, Quaresma will not be able to play in the Champions League and he looks increasingly likely to quit the Dragons.
Fellow countryman Jose Mourinho has taken over the Inter hot seat and is believed to be considering linking up with the 24-year-old.
However, Porto are expected to demand in excess of £10m for Quaresma and there are rumours that Liverpool have already tabled a £12m offer.
Mourinho is expected to make three major additions to his squad before the start of next season and there are suggestions that he could axe some peripheral players to make space.
Enigmatic hitman Adriano, former Cagliari striker David Suazo and Argentine stopper Nicolas Burdisso are all possible departures.
