Bergkamp begins traineeship

Dennis Bergkamp has begun his traineeship with Ajax 1. The internship is part of the shortened course coach professional football. ,,This is a sort of homecoming."

,,It feels good to be back”, says Bergkamp, who played for Ajax 1 from 1986 to 1993. ,,I have never really worked in the ArenA, but it still feels like coming home. I left Holland and Ajax fifteen years ago, and now I'm back.”

A first day on the job always takes some getting used to, also for former top-class players such as Bergkamp. ,,It is a bit strange”, he admits. ,,But it feels very good to be back on the pitch. That is why I signed up for the course coach professional football.”

Bergkamp will be with the first team for the entire season. During the first training session, he observed the proceedings, made some notes and chatted with Marco van Basten. The squad made a good impression on him. ,,Everyone looks fit. The training was very sharp.”

Marco van Basten offered Bergkamp the internship a few months ago. ,,I think he can make players better”, Van Basten said then. Bergkamp himself also hopes to contribute to a successful season. ,,At least I can try to explain how I see certain things. And if that makes players better, that would be great.”

The Ajax supporters have not forgotten Dennis Bergkamp.

Ajax coach Marco van Basten has asked Frank de Boer to join his coaching
staff.

As well as De Boer's skills on the training pitch, Van Basten envisages he
could also be invaluable as an interpreter.

He told De Telegraaf: "The Ajax squad has many Spanish-speaking players and
Frank speaks Spanish fluently.

"It's very important that things are explained to players as well as
possible. Frank is also very experienced and he was a defender. That comes
in handy."

Van Basten added: "It wouldn't be necessary for him to be with us in every
training session, but every now and then would be nice."

De Boer said: "(Assistant coach) John van't Schip called me and asked on
what basis I was at the Ajax training sessions last year (under Henk ten
Cate and Adrie Koster).

"That was a voluntary thing, I told him, and it can be the same now. When
the guys need my help, I want to help them."

好多人都係佢踢阿仙奴先留意/認識佢.

而小弟則係在euro92就開始留意佢,當時佢仲踢緊阿積士.足足支持左佢14年.
