El-Hadji Diouf is poised to join forces with Sam Allardyce again.
Blackburn boss Allardyce, who worked with Senegal striker Diouf for three years during his time in charge at Bolton, has agreed a deal - believed to be �2million - with Sunderland for the 28-year-old.
Diouf has passed a medical and, providing he agrees terms and signs a contract today, will go straight into the squad for Saturday's Premier League clash at Middlesbrough.
Diouf's imminent arrival has allowed Allardyce to release Matt Derbyshire to Olympiacos on loan until the end of the season.
"We're in the process of trying to sign El-Hadji Diouf at the moment," confirmed Allardyce on Friday morning.

"So the one-in, one-out scenario looks like it will be finalised this morning.

"He can play a few positions, down the right, down the left, as well as along the front.

"I'm hoping he can come and give me the kind of performances he gave at Bolton.

"At 26, he is in the prime of his career, so hopefully we will get that sorted today and get him in the squad tomorrow."

Nolan confirmed

NEWCASTLE United have completed the signing of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Kevin Nolan for a fee of £4m.

The 26-year-old penned a four-and-a-half year deal at St.James' Park on Friday morning and will wear the No.4 shirt for the Magpies.

A delighted Nolan told nufcTV: "It's all happened so quickly but it was an opportunity which was impossible to turn down.

"I can't wait to play in front of these fans every week and I'm really looking forward to the next four-and-a-half years."
