Lorenzo De Silvestri has reportedly passed his medical and will complete the transfer to Fiorentina tomorrow.
The full-back is one of three ‘dissidents’ who were frozen out of the Lazio squad over a contract dispute, along with Cristian Ledesma and Goran Pandev.
Milan and Juventus were also interested in De Silvestri, but a deal worth £4m was reached with the Viola.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Under-21 international underwent his medical this afternoon in Prato.
He cannot make his debut until mid-September, as he is currently sidelined with a sprained right knee, but the two and a half hour tests suggested it is healing on schedule.
Either later tonight or on Tuesday morning De Silvestri will put pen to paper on a four-year contract worth £500,000 per season.
He is a Lazio youth product and will be presented to the media the day after Fiorentina’s Champions League play-off against Sporting Lisbon, which is on Wednesday night.
It could well be just the start of Fiorentina’s summer spending, as director Pantaleo Corvino is now in negotiations with Boca Juniors for the loan of Ezequiel Munoz.
Milan look set to solve their full-back issues by swapping Massimo Oddo for West Ham man Julien Faubert.
The Frenchman is versatile and can also play on the right side of midfield, so his precise crossing is considered perfect service for new striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and is back with the Hammers now, but that could be a short-lived stay.
According to the French newspapers today, Milan have put in a request to sign Flaubert in a straight swap with Oddo.
Although a 2006 World Cup winner, Oddo has been told in no uncertain terms that he is not part of Leonardo’s plans.
His high wages and the fact he is over 30 puts him at odds with the new-look Rossoneri, who had hoped he would make his loan move to Bayern Munich permanent.
