Espanyol To Release Raul Tamudo This Week - Report

Raul Tamudo is set to have his contract cancelled by Espanyol this week after several days of discussion bringing an end to his record-breaking spell at the club, according to a report.
The striker's demand for his buy-out clause to be lowered and then to leave began the saga that saw the Catalan-based outfit revealing that he was forcing an exit, which the player himself denied.
That public spat has meant that he is no longer the revered figure he once was with the Blanc i Blau and his acrimonious departure will be complete by Thursday, El Mundo Deportivo state.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino, a former team-mate of Tamudo, affirmed last week that he would choose the goalscorer for his team again, but that decision appears to have been taken away from him.
Talks between Tamudo's agent, Tomas Duran, and the board have failed to find any reconciliation and it was decided that it would be best if he had his contract cancelled as quickly as possible.
Having asked to have his buy-out clause reduced from €30 million to around €3 million in the winter transfer window Tamudo is reported to have wanted to leave in January and again in the summer.
When no clubs made concrete offers he started the season with the team, but with his contract due to run out at the end of the campaign, questions about his commitment were raised.
Those questions turned to accusations with directors and Tamudo exchanging views in the media and that has now led to the club's former captain and all-time record goalscorer to the verge of an abrupt exit.
