Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is set to avoid a three-match ban after appearing to stamp on Richard Garcia during Arsenal’s 3-0 Premier League victory over Hull City at the weekend.
The Guardian reports that the Football Association has decided against handing out a punishment as match official Steve Bennett told authorities, upon reviewing video footage of the incident, that he would have only given Nasri a yellow card.

Shareholders have apparently made it clear to the club's directors that a major signing is required in January in order to appease fans and make a statement of intent as far as ambition is concerned.

Wenger - I'd buy striker who is Euro cup-tied

Arsène Wenger has an "interested eye" on the transfer market in January and is perfectly willing to sign a player who is ineligible for this season's Champions League.
The Arsenal manager has already admitted that he is looking to bring in a new addition, probably a striker, during the window. However his options are limited given that, ideally, they have to be high-quality, ready to make an immediate impact and yet able to play in Europe.
Of course Wenger was in the same position last January and brought in Andrey Arshavin. The little Russian fulfilled the first two criteria well but was cup-tied in the Champions League. However, it did not stop him making a massive contribution late in Arsenal's campaign.
During an exclusive webchat with Arsenal.com on Tuesday, one fan asked Wenger if he would be willing to sign a striker who could not play in Europe.
"Yes, I would," he responded. "We are going for the domestic title and the FA Cup aswell and doing that allows you to rest a player for the Champions League or play another player in the Premier League. Of course I would prefer the player who can play in both competitions and so it would mean the player has the quality to play in the long-term for Arsenal Football Club.
"But we have an interested eye on the transfer window and if the right player turns up then we will do it.
"Sometimes you think that is a bargain you cannot turn down and don't forget Arshavin got us in the Champions League last season." |
