Ernie: at the moment, 3 clubs maybe 4 from the hk league could play the a- leauge in Australia

Dear Ernie, How would you comment the young players in Hong Kong (especially those in Shap Shui Po and HK Sapling)? Do you think they have the ability to take up key positions of the Hong Kong Team in the near future?

Ernie:yes, i do and you'll find that many of the under 22 playesr will be selected from those 2 teams. the FAC qualifiers are in June this year

Coach Merrick: We had foreign coaches before but never had any great success. What makes you different from others and how will the Hong Kong team improve its standing in a short period of time? With the limited resources and little involvement from the government and high schools, will there be any changes in the youth development and the football facilities in the time being?
Ernie: I will be judged on my result in 18 months to 2 years. Step by step we will improve our ranking
we have lots of supports from the HK govn't. with the appointment of the technical director, myself and Gordon, we intend to improve development program for the leaque juniors

Dear Mr. Merrick, what similarities and differences do you find between Melbourne Victory and the Hong Kong national team? What high-level strategy do you have to improve the national team?
大豪哥﹕請問港隊小將的心理質素如何？
Ernie: coaching is fundamentally the same wherever i coach national players. the difference is the intensity, the speed and the consistency of the games
偉豪: 香港很多球員心理質素都一般，所以要透過多點國際賽，令小將提高心理質素

偉豪: 一隊球隊有沒有希望不是取決於一場比賽，相反這場波教練用了很多不同的球員上陣，一場波只是一個過程，我們著重的是香港的長遠進步

Ernie: The preparation is very good. And win is very important but the style of performance is also very important.

Which Hong Kong player mostly impressed you at the first time? Do you think he can take root in A-league??
Ernie: I don't select individual to discuss at this stage because there are so many potential players at this stage
