Former Wolves and Tottenham defender Dean Richards has died at the age of 36.
Dean Richards retired from the game in 2005.
Wolves confirmed on the club's website that Richards had passed away on Saturday morning after a long battle with illness.
Richards spent four years at Wolves, making 145 appearances for the club, before he was signed by Glenn Hoddle for Tottenham Hotspur in 2001 for a fee of £8 million.
A statement read: "Wolves would like to take this opportunity to send their condolences to the former Molineux defender's family and friends.
"There will be a tribute paid to the defender ahead of next Sunday's game with his former club Spurs."
Richards began his career with his hometown club Bradford where he made more than 80 appearances.
Bradford said on Saturday of the news: "The club are truly devastated to hear of the death of former Bradford City fans' favourite Dean Richards.''
Richards joined Wolves on loan in March 1995 before signing permanently that summer, establishing himself as a fans' favourite. He was a key part of the club's run to the FA Cup semi final in 1998, where they were beaten by Arsenal.
He left the club to ply his trade in the Premier League with Southampton, but after just two years with the club he joined Tottenham for a huge fee.
He remained at the club for five years but was forced to retire in May 2005, aged 31, when he started to suffer frequent headaches and dizzy spells.
