Sergio Ramos was initially in the Real Madrid starting XI for the Champions League clash against Manchester City before his name shockingly went missing within minutes after we got the team news.
The Spanish defender was then named on the substitute bench with 19-year-old Raphael Varane taking his place in the starting team.
When checked to see if Ramos had been carrying an injury or manager Jose Mourinho decided on the change for tactical reasons, the word around the camp suggested that the defender had a row in with the boss and was dropped.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has also decided to play Sami Khedira, Xabi Alonso and Michael Essien – all defensive minded players – in his starting line-up for the contest, despite having the likes of Luka Modric, Mesut Ozil and Kaka in the squad.
Manchester City themselves had made adjustments to the initial team that was announced.
Most notable was Mario Balotelli, who was named in the starting team initially, but was not even on the bench the second time around because of what the club said was technical reasons. |
