The readers of AS.com believe that Jose Mourinho is purposely trying to get himself sacked after making some rather unorthodox decisions in recent weeks.

Mourinho has been involved in several altercations with a number of Real Madrid players this season with the most recent coming against Malaga when he chose to drop Iker Casillas for the first time in over a decade.

93% of readers voted that the Portuguese coach is aiming to get sacked and force president Florentino Perez into making the decision.

Perez was captured on camera before Saturday’s match with Malaga looking at the team sheet and portrayed a man in shock after reading Adan was to start as keeper.

The decision back fired on Mourinho as goals from Isco and a brace from Roque Santa Cruz gave Malaga a 3-2 win, leaving Los Blancos 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Mourinho, whose current contract expires in 2016 has been linked with a return to both Chelsea and Inter Milan in the past, whilst French club Paris Saint Germain are also interested.

Many continue to speculate that Mourinho will no quit, as he is attempting to force Real Madrid into sacking him, therefore buying out the remaining two years of his contract, which will be a sizable amount as he is one of the world’s highest paid coaches, while he waits to move onto his next club.

Madrid to hold board meeting over Mourinho future

Inside Spanish Football has learnt that the club have considered sacking Mourinho but a decision is yet to be made with a board meeting pending for either before Christmas or in the winter break.

Reports in Spain on Sunday stated that Castilla coach Alberto Toril has been suggested as a possible favourite to take over as interim coach up until the next round of the Champions League when the club were hoping to find a replacement.

Some reports also state that a stumbling block over the decision could be a figure of £20m that could be payable to Mourinho if they sack him, although the details of his last contract are not concrete.

Real Madrid goalkeeper, Antonio Adan was reportedly informed by the coaching staff that he would start Saturday evening’s match against Malaga, but when manager Jose Mourinho announced the starting line-up prior to the match, dropping the Iconic Iker Casillas, the locker room was stunned.

Many suspected that when Mourinho announced the line-up, it was a tactic to root out the player who leaked information to the press labeling goalkeeping coach, Silvino Louro as a ‘spy’ for the Portuguese boss, with Casillas being the likely culprit in Mourinho’s eyes.

Casillas is statistically the second best goalkeeper in the league and had not missed a single match in 10 years until Saturday, while Adan, who eventually conceded three goals in a losing effort to Malaga, had only played in four matches this season (three Copa del Rey starts and one Champions League match).

Mourinho may have alluded to Casillas’ benching earlier in the week, when he suggested that every player needs to give their all, in all competitions.

“We can’t pick and choose between competitions. We have to give our all each and every time we play.”

Following the match, Mourinho insisted that the decision was purely based on tactics, while many are unsure, even President Florentino Perez, who voiced his displeasure stating “tension isn’t healthy.”

It remains to be seen what will happen over the Christmas break as the Real Madrid board is set to meet to decide Mourinho’s fate, while many suggest that he dropped Casillas to clear state “It’s me or Casillas,” and even get himself sacked in order for the club to buyout his contract, so he can take up a managerial position at the number of clubs vying for his services.

Málaga...Fourth in the league but perfectly capable of climbing higher, still in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, handed the prestigious 'Golden Boy' prize adjudicated by Italy's Tuttosport to the continent's most promising young player in Isco (Messi, Fabregas, Rooney and Agüero are previous winners), everything would have been fine on the farm if it were not for the awkward little business of UEFA's recent sanction, banning them from participation in Europe the next time they qualify within the next four seasons.

It may strengthen their resolve to win the Champions League this season (stranger things have happened - see Chelsea)

At a time when all is woe for Mourinho, at least he'll get a warm reception from Sir Alex, with whom he apparently shares a good nose for a vintage red. Ronaldo himself has vowed not to celebrate when (as opposed to 'if') he scores a goal, and Mourinho will have an opportunity to take in the new improvements at Old Trafford and to ponder further on the vexed matter of whether he should plump for the blue or the red of the city in some not-so-distant future. That may well be the topic of conversation over the vintage red after the game.
