How's this for a Deadline Day deal in Spain? Joaquin looks as though he is going to be returning to Real Betis, almost 10 years after leaving his boyhood club.
According to reports in Italy, where he is currently with Fiorentina, he is going to sign a three-year deal with the Spanish side.
He also told firenzeviola.it: "I am very happy, I am returning home. Everything has finished in the best way, for me and for the club."
Here's what Guillem Balague has just tweeted about the De Gea deal: "1hr to go. All agreed (between clubs+players) but clubs rushing 2 do paperwork. Can u imagine if red tape stops DG transfer?? #tension.
"Never before an extension to deadline has been granted in Spain. The authorities don't allow it #willrulesbechangedifneeded?."
Just 15 minutes before the windows shut in Spain and France and we are still waiting on David de Gea to be confirmed as a Real Madrid player and also seeing whether Anthony Martial will leave Monaco to sign for Manchester United this evening.
The Martial deal, though, could be completed any time before the UK deadline at 6pm tomorrow as players can still leave clubs in France and Spain after 11pm tonight.
