1. Just get a college guide book from bookstores or ask for advice from the college adviser in your school.
2.Take the standardized tests ( SAT/ACT etc.) as early as possible, also take the TOEFL if you are required. Reference letters, transcript....etc. Anyway, just go to the websites of those universities to check for the requirement.

graduate schools in unis are for students who have completed their first degree, the admission requirement is a bit different from applyin as an undergraduate
Arent you studyin in UK? Why don't you consider unviersities in UK?
If you decided to go to us, i think you should start preparing for it now( or at least a year before), coz there are a number of tests that you have to take and you may have to take them for several times, plus finding a good uni and college application essays..lots of stuff

York and Edinburgh are quite easy, sometimes Edinburgh do not interview people just to make things easier, so i think u should ease up a bit
