Ronnie may quit snooker
Eurosport - Tue, 06 May 08:45:00 2008
Ronnie O'Sullivan said that he might be tempted to quit the game after winning his third World Championship in Sheffield.
O'Sullivan quickly wrapped up an 18-8 success over Ali Carter in the final (see link below picture for full report), but despite producing two weeks of sensational snooker he said he is going to consider his options in the summer.
"I've said I'd like to win more but it is quite well documented that I have had trouble with myself and with the game," he said in his post-match interview.
"Sometimes I have thought if I won this: 'wouldn't it be nice to go out like this as the world champion' but I am going to take some time to think over the summer.
"Number one, world champion, UK champion, it might be a good time to have a bit of a break, who knows?
"I like playing but sometimes I find it a bit tough and there is nothing better than going out on a high but I hope I will be here next year, I really do, but if not it has been fantastic."
'The Rocket' also played down suggestions that he had taken snooker to a new level with his performances throughout the week and just said that he did what he needed to do.
"I've just been a bit more consistent that is all, I have been consistent all season, each match here is long and I have done the damage in one session in every match and from then I just contained - that is why I won it," he said.
"I wasn't playing fantastic in every session but you don't need to, sometimes you just have to do it in spells and that was my game plan really."
"Me and Ali will be disappointed we couldn't have put on a better performance but sometimes it is not all about the performance.
"You can struggle with your form at times, and out there with a 1,000 people breathing down your neck it is a tough time, but we love the pressure, the excitement, and the atmosphere at the Crucible."
