Werder Bremen have completed the loan signing of Southampton defender Jelle van Damme.
The 21-year-old Belgian international put pen-to-paper on the one-year deal at the Weserstadion on Thursday, with Bremen having an option to extend his contract should he impress next season.
Werder boss Thomas Schaaf had been looking for a quality replacement for Swiss star Ludovic Magnin, who joined Stuttgart this summer, and expressed his delight at the signing.
"He is an aggressive player, who is fast and good in the air," said Schaaf.
Van Damme failed to make the expected impact last season following his move from Ajax and he will be looking to kick-start his career in Die Bundesliga.
